How Does the Bloated Military Budget Drive the Debt Crisis?

CODEPINK Congress Coordinator Marcy Winograd interviews economist, public policy analyst, and prolific author Jeffrey Sachs on how the bloated military budget drives the debt crisis.

Professor Sachs estimates US debt at $ 24 trillion dollars, much of it the result of US wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine, as well the maintenance of 800 military bases abroad, development of new weapons systems, and a nuclear rearmament program in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which the US ratified over 50 years ago. Prof. Sachs says no to NATO expansion and warns the US must seek a ceasefire in Ukraine and not start another proxy war with China over Taiwan. Peace is the path forward, according to Sachs.
